S.LAB is, at its core, an experimental platform that advocates freedom, openness and tolerance. A joint effort by the SPURS Gallery team and artist friends, S.LAB aims to break through the limitations of conventional exhibition mechanisms and spaces, combining exhibitions, screenings, talks, live performances and other activities to support artistic creativity. The platform will frequently hold open call exhibition projects to seek out more flexible and dynamic possibilities beyond the gallery’s regular exhibition schedule. S.LAB will utilize all of the gallery’s existing resources to support its sustainable operations. Many of the participating artists may never have worked with a gallery or taken part in any exhibitions before.
